Our Florida weather allows us to enjoy the great outdoors all year long. One reason riding a motorcycle or scooter is so popular in this state. Perhaps you enjoy riding your scooter to work, go touring on the weekend, or own your own golf cart for use on our many golf courses. In any of these events you need to scoot on over to the Roberts Insurance Group, LLC and have one of our trained agents assist you with the appropriate coverage to protect both you and your property.

Keep your motorcycle in top condition for safe and enjoyable riding

Florida provides a year round opportunity to ride your bike. Which means you'll want to make sure your motorcycle and your insurance are both in good working order.  Below are some general tips for maintaining your bike in good order. Please consult your owner's manual for specific guidelines.

* Change the oil and filter. Many manufacturers suggest changing these before extended storage and again before using. Here in
Florida we have lots of seasonal residents that divide their year between here and their home up north. A good practice is to start
the bike, allow the engine to warm up then shut it off and promptly change the oil and filter.

* Inspect the chain and lubricate it regularly. Be sure the tension is adjusted according to manufacturers recommendation.

* Inspect all the nuts and bolts for tightness. Loose or missing hardware can lead to more then breakdowns, they can cause
  accidents.

* Inspect the tires for wear and tear or possbile damage. Checking the tire pressure is very important as your balancing on just two
tires and either under or over inflation can lead to instability.

* Check for leaking fluids not only on the bike, but also on the floor where the bike has been parked. When a car panic brakes
directly ahead of you is not the time to discover your bike is low on brake fluid.

* Regularly check all your lights. Be sure the head light, tail light, brake light and turn signals are functional. Let's be honest, your
motorcycle is already more difficult to see for many drivers then a big car. Having a light out can be especially dangerous.

* Refresh your riding skills. If you have been back north for six months and not riding, chances are your skills are little rusty.
Before hitting the busy highway find a safe place to practice fast stops, U-turns, etc. The refresher could pay big rewards.

* Review your motorcycle policy with your agent to be certain you are properly covered for your protection.
